Nigerian Student Victor Olalusi Makes History with Perfect 5.0 GPA in Russia, Inspires Global Recognition

In the annals of academic brilliance, Nigerian student Victor Olalusi stands as a testament to exceptional achievement. Making waves in the global education scene, Olalusi has become the first person in the world to achieve a perfect 5.0 GPA in the Faculty of Clinical Sciences at the Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow (RNRMU) in 2013. This outstanding feat follows his previous recognition as the best graduating student in the entire Russian Federation in 2013.

Victor Olalusi’s journey to academic excellence traces back to his secondary school days, where he consistently demonstrated his prowess. From securing the best WAEC result in 2004 to graduating with First Class in Architecture from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) in 2005, Olalusi’s academic journey was marked by a series of remarkable accomplishments.

His exceptional performance in JAMB and Post UME examinations secured him a spot on the merit list, but a scholarship from the Federal Government of Nigeria changed his trajectory, leading him to study Medicine in Russia under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement.

Olalusi faced numerous challenges upon arriving in Russia, including adapting to a new environment, language, and culture. Battling racism and discrimination, he persevered, immersing himself in studies, mastering the Russian language, and engaging in extracurricular activities. Despite the obstacles, he achieved a perfect 5.0 GPA in every semester for seven years, earning recognition as one of the best students in the faculty and induction into RNRMU’s Hall of Fame for academic excellence.

Returning to Nigeria in 2013, Olalusi completed his housemanship training at State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State, and the compulsory National Youth Service scheme in Rivers State. Currently pursuing postgraduate studies and research interests, he has garnered accolades from various institutions and organizations, including the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja in 2015, the Russian Embassy, Ondo State Government, FUTA Alumni Association, and the Nigerian Medical Association.
