In a momentous recognition of outstanding achievement, Dr. Shawndaya Thrasher, Assistant Professor at the LSU School of Social Work, has been honored with the inaugural Rising Star in Social Work Award from the University of Kentucky College of Social Work. The award, presented at the Social Work Alumni Association (SWAA) 1st Annual Recognition Event awards banquet at the Carrick House in Lexington, KY, celebrates recent graduates making exceptional contributions to the field while embodying the principles and values of the profession.
Dr. Shawndaya Thrasher graciously accepted the Rising Star Award at the SWAA awards banquet, which stands as the highest honor bestowed by the UK College of Social Work for alumni and supporters. Dressed in an elegant evening gown, Dr. Thrasher radiated pride as she received this prestigious accolade, symbolizing her commitment to advancing the field of social work.
Dr. Thrasher’s research focus on bullying, victimization, and violence exemplifies her dedication to addressing critical issues in society. Currently teaching Research Methods and Statistics, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role as Assistant Professor at the LSU School of Social Work, a position she has held since 2021.
