University of Toronto Ranks 12th Worldwide in Times Higher Education Survey

In a testament to its commitment to academic excellence, the University of Toronto (U of T) has secured the 12th position globally and stands as the premier public university in North America for graduate employability, according to the Times Higher Education’s Global Employability University Ranking 2023-2024. The ranking, which assesses the desirability of graduates by employers, surveyed 250 universities across 44 countries.

The University of Toronto’s recognition is attributed to its graduates consistently possessing the skills required to thrive in today’s workforce. President Meric Gertler expressed pride in the global demand for U of T graduates, emphasizing the institution’s dedication to providing students with a world-class education, instilling knowledge, experience, and an outlook that propels them to excel in their careers.

The ranking, crafted by HR consultancy Emerging, is based on a survey of recruiters and managers from prominent companies, most with workforces exceeding 500 employees. This year’s results draw from 100,700 votes cast by 11,560 participants, each selecting up to 10 universities.

U of T has consistently held a position among the top 15 in the Times Higher Education employability ranking over the past decade, securing the 11th spot in the previous year. The 2023-2024 edition of the ranking is led by the California Institute of Technology, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Stanford University.

Joining the University of Toronto in the top 100 are four other Canadian universities: McGill University (31st), University of British Columbia (36th), Université de Montréal (72nd), and McMaster University (85th).

U of T maintains its top-tier status nationally and globally, securing the first position in Canada and featuring among the top 25 universities in five closely watched international rankings: QS World University Rankings, U.S. News & World Report’s Best Global Universities, Times Higher Education’s World University Rankings, ShanghaiRanking Consultancy’s Academic Ranking of World Universities, and National Taiwan University World University Rankings.
