In a groundbreaking move, two distinguished lecturers have been inaugurated as ‘Medical Delta lecturers’ alongside nine new Medical Delta professors during the recent Medical Delta Conference at the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam. This announcement was part of the collaboration’s unveiling of a new multi-year program aimed at directly addressing pressing challenges in the healthcare sector.

Medical Delta is a strategic alliance comprising TU Delft, Erasmus MC, Erasmus University, LUMC, and Leiden University. It also involves four universities of applied sciences in the province of Zuid-Holland, namely Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Leiden University of Applied Sciences, and Inholland University of Applied Sciences, in addition to governments, healthcare organizations, and businesses. The overarching goal is to devise technological solutions for sustainable healthcare.

Medical Delta unveiled a new vision, mission, and strategy that accentuates ‘transdisciplinary collaboration.’ This collaborative approach extends not only between scientific disciplines or science and healthcare organizations but also includes partnerships with governments, businesses, healthcare professionals, and patients.

Set to kick off in mid-2024, Medical Delta’s new programming centers around ‘societies,’ initially revolving around the themes of ‘Care,’ ‘Prevention,’ ‘Transformation,’ and ‘Sustainability.’ Consortium meetings for these societies are slated to commence in January, marking the beginning of a concerted effort to address the most urgent issues in healthcare through innovative and collaborative means.
