The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is making waves in the education landscape with the launch of its Master of Finance program, marking its second new degree introduction in 88 years. Following the unveiling of the Master in Management program earlier this year, the prestigious business school is expanding its offerings to meet the evolving demands of the financial industry.

The Master of Finance program, scheduled to commence in the fall of 2024, is designed to provide a transformative educational experience for analytical college graduates, propelling them to the forefront of the rapidly advancing field of finance. Booth’s finance faculty, renowned as the best in the world, will leverage their expertise to equip students with the latest innovations and a deep understanding of modern finance theory.

Dean Madhav Rajan expressed his enthusiasm about bringing this transformative approach to aspiring finance professionals, stating, “Chicago Booth’s finance faculty have shaped the course of financial knowledge and markets for more than 100 years. We are excited to bring our transformative approach and the latest innovations in finance to talented, analytical college graduates, jump-starting their careers and putting them at the frontier of this rapidly advancing field.”

The program offers two tracks — a standard 15-month track and an accelerated 10-month track — to accommodate diverse learning preferences. Applications are now open, with the first deadline set for January 25, 2024, and the second on March 29, 2024. Tuition details are yet to be announced.

Booth’s Master in Finance program comprises 13 courses and offers four specializations: Asset Management, Investment Banking, Fintech, or Research in Finance. Students will engage in immersive orientation programming focused on career exploration and advising. The curriculum includes core courses such as Investments, Corporation Finance, Data Analytics, and Financial Accounting, supplemented by a range of electives, allowing students to tailor their education to match their career goals.

Career development is integral to the program, starting even before classes begin, with experiential opportunities like internships and a Leaders in Finance Speaker Series. Students can choose from a variety of electives that delve into cutting-edge topics such as AI, machine learning, big data, blockchain technology, fintech, and current trends in investment banking.
