Amidst enthusiastic applause, Frederike Vernimmen, Corporate Information Office, proudly announced the AppChallenge@UM 2023 team as the recipient of Maastricht University’s prestigious Lean & Agile Award for 2023. The victory was celebrated for their outstanding project, highlighting the university’s commitment to collaboration, improvement, and innovation.

Represented by Perry Heymann (CI Office), Gaby Lutgens (EDLAB), Danielle Zijlstra, Nils Keesmekers, and Sid Penders (in absentia) (MomentUM), the AppChallenge@UM 2023 team showcased their winning project during the third Lean & Agile Project Market.

The jury recognized the AppChallenge@UM 2023 for presenting a project with a robust theme that promises a lasting impact on the university. The team was impressed with a working prototype and a comprehensive perspective, encompassing organizers’ and participants’ viewpoints. The initiative’s strength lies in its inclusive approach, involving individuals from diverse backgrounds such as students, teachers, researchers, IT developers, and support organizations.

Out of 29 projects, AppChallenge@UM 2023 emerged as one of the 13 nominees in the Agile category. The winning project, MomentUM, proposed a smartphone app designed to enhance the teaching and learning experience at Maastricht University. Daniëlle Zijlstra, Nils Keesmekers, and Sid Penders, the driving forces behind MomentUM, clinched victory on November 22 with their innovative app concept.

MomentUM stands out as an app geared towards assisting students in setting and achieving SMART goals while offering personalized suggestions for resources available at Maastricht University.
