Alexandria University’s Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science Secures Second Place in Public Policy Papers Competition

Alexandria University’s Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science has achieved a remarkable feat by securing the second-place position in a prestigious research competition. Organized by the Information and Decision Support Center of the Egyptian Government, the contest focused on the preparation of public policy papers under the theme “We Think for Our Country.” The faculty’s research team, comprising distinguished members, stood out among 43 competing teams from various Egyptian universities.

Professor Dr. Abdelaziz Konsowa, President of Alexandria University, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Faculty of Economic Studies and Political Science for their outstanding performance in the research competition. The accolade reflects the faculty’s commitment to scholarly excellence and its dedication to addressing critical issues through impactful research.

The victorious team from the Faculty’s Department of Economics, led by Dr. Abdelhalim Shaheen, included Mr. Abdelkhalek Mohamed, Mr. Ahmed Magdy, Ms. Alaa El-Shazly, and Ms. Marwa Harb. Their award-winning research paper, titled “Blue Economy Exports are an Engine for Growth: One of the Gains of the Flexible Exchange Rate Policy,” delved into the Blue Economy, its status in Egypt, and a comprehensive analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT) associated with Egypt’s exports from the Blue Economy. The paper presented pioneering experiences in the field and proposed an executive plan to enhance Egypt’s exports from the Blue Economy, concluding with vital recommendations for strengthening marine wealth exports, port and logistics services, and beach tourism services.

The achievements of the winning team were celebrated at a ceremony organized by the Information and Decision Support Center on Monday, December 18, 2023.
