Dr. Mohamed Lotfy, a former member of the teaching staff at the Institute of Graduate Studies and Research at Alexandria University, received this honorary doctorate as a testament to his exceptional achievements in the field of higher education spanning over 30 years. After completing his doctorate at the University of Sunderland, Dr. Lotfy assumed the role of Director of the Department of International Education at the University of Sunderland in the United Kingdom in 2008, alongside his position as an associate professor in the Faculty of Science, Computer, and Technology.
The honorary doctorate was presented to Dr. Lotfy by Sir David Bell, President of the University of Sunderland, in a dignified ceremony held on the university’s campus in England. This prestigious recognition underscores Dr. Lotfy’s substantial impact on international higher education and his outstanding leadership in various esteemed UK universities.
Dr. Mohamed Lotfy stands as one of the foremost experts in the internationalization of higher education. With strategic partnerships in over 25 countries, including collaborations at the governmental level, Dr. Lotfy has played a pivotal role in enhancing institutional cooperation in education, teaching, and community service.
As one of the youngest individuals to hold leadership positions in UK universities, Dr. Lotfy has served as the former Vice President of Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales and Coventry University in the United Kingdom. He has also acted as an advisor to the UK Higher Education Leadership Foundation and a member of the Academic Council of its international leaders in higher education program, the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education.
Dr. Mohamed Lotfy’s extensive experience as a professor of internationalization at Cardiff Metropolitan University, a visiting professor at Euro-Asia University in China, and a visiting professor at Coventry University in the United Kingdom has significantly contributed to the renaissance of higher education. Additionally, his role as a member of the Board of Directors of the European Quality Assurance Authority reflects his commitment to ensuring quality in higher education.
