Expressing her excitement, Akayla shared in an interview with NBC Philadelphia, “I was ecstatic. I was overjoyed. I was speechless. I couldn’t believe it.” Her journey to success has not been without challenges, as she grew up in Southwest Philadelphia, witnessing violence, poverty, and drug abuse.
