In a significant stride towards fostering collaboration between academia and governance, Dr. Essam Wahba, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Vice Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research at Alexandria University, welcomed Dr. Jacqueline Azer, Deputy Governor of Alexandria. The meeting, held at the Faculty of Engineering, also included the presence of Dr. Walid Abdelazim, Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.

The purpose of the meeting was to assess and enhance the collaboration between the Faculty of Engineering and the Alexandria Governorate. The discussions underscored the strategic partnership involved in various ongoing projects within the governorate’s jurisdiction. Dr. Azer expressed her appreciation for the robust relationship between Alexandria University and the governorate, highlighting the university’s advisory role in diverse national projects.

The meeting delved into the details of the mechanism for developing and reviewing comprehensive plans for unplanned areas in Alexandria Governorate. These plans are being prepared as part of the cooperation protocol established between Alexandria University and the governorate. Work teams from the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Engineering collaborated with counterparts from the Department of Architecture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, along with the participation of Engineer Noha Abdellatif, Director of the General Department of Urban Planning.

An extended meeting followed, bringing together work teams and students from the architecture departments, particularly the Urban Design Division.
